Today was a good day! I am staying with my folks in Tiburon right now, so I had the opportunity to run part of the course for my upcoming 5K, The Tiburon Half Marathon & 5K. This was also the first day of the “walk 4 minutes, run 2 minutes” schedule. It was really hard, but I did it! I am hovering close to the 15 minute per mile mark. I’m hoping to make it before my next exercise Shabbat! The route was very nice, and I’m going to try and run it at least once per week. I think that will help me come race time!
I am starting to get some blisters, but I have discovered my new favorite thing:
Eating-wise, I have been ok. Scheduling is still an issue for me, and that brings me to my lesson learned- no green tea on an empty stomach. I was late in eating my afternoon snack, so my daily green tea came on an empty stomach. I started to feel both jittery and weak (my sure sign of low blood sugar) and luckily I was close to a Safeway where I got a quick snack of cheese and crackers. I’m going to have to be better about remembering the snacks, or I just need to start carrying some energy bars around with me.
The good news is that sleep is coming easier, and I am starting to notice a big difference in my energy level. Next week will be tough- I start classes again on Monday, and then leave to go camping on Thursday!
